The White Pine Trail is a beautiful trail that carves its way through a glacial valley and through spectacular Alpine meadows. The first mile of the trail is shared with the Red Pine trail, but then branches off on its own. You'll cross Little Cottonwood Creek right off, but after the trail turns south, you won't be near the creek again. The trail meanders up toward the lake, but it never gets steep because the original path was created by miners driving Jeeps up the canyon to establish mines.

The culmination of the trail is of course reaching White Pine Lake, which is just below 10,000 feet in elevation, but pristine and beautiful. There are great camping spots around for those that want to make this into an overnighter.

White Pine Trailhead is about 5.5 miles up Little Cottonwood Canyon 20 minutes south of Salt Lake City.
