If you're in Moab and looking for a nice, shady hike that will get you back in time for lunch, then the Hidden Valley Trail is it. The Trail will take you right through the Moab valley; you'll start the trail with a slightly steep series of switchbacks that will take you to the top of Moab Rim. From there, the trail crosses Hidden Valley along the eastern edge and over a low pass, after which you'll see fantastic views of the large rock formations of the Behind the Rocks area. The trail ends at the Moab Rim four–wheel trail. Much of the hike is shady, and you'll probably encounter the occasional mountain biker as well.
To get to the trailhead, take Highway 191 South for 3 miles, then turn right on Angel Rock Road. After two blocks, turn on to Rimrock Road.
